A playful introduction to the world of ants
Ant Ant in the Classroom – what now?
A playful introduction to the world of ants
A teaching program that playfully unlocks nature.
What strengths do ants have? Where and how do ants live? How to recognize an ant and how to recognize other insects? Which animals live in our surroundings? What do ants like to eat the most? And do they really have superpowers?
Let’s find out together!
The learning objectives range from general topics such as personal development to subject-specific knowledge in biology and scientific work and research methods.
The core content varies depending on the program and is based on the following topics: ant biology, identifying characteristics of ants and other insects, and an introduction to investigative scientific work.
The programs involve active participation, individual learning, and project-based learning. They often address all four learning styles—auditory, visual, kinesthetic, and communicative—and engage nearly all the senses: touch, sight, smell, and hearing. Materials for viewing and hands-on exploration are provided, and there are movement-based activities and games.
The acquired skills and competencies vary depending on the program.
€ 150,- per lesson unit excl. travel and material (varies depending on the program and number of students)
A part of my programs is currently fully funded (100%) through Science Classes of the province of Lower Austria and the Wiener Bildungsschancen initiative.
What I liked best was... the didactic preparation of the content!
What I liked best was... the detective game and Magdalena’s enthusiasm and knowledge!
What I liked best was... the variety of methods (pictures, videos, visual materials), the learning and puzzle booklet, and the interactive tasks. It was simply fantastic!
What I liked best was... the ant dance! The children really enjoyed the workshop. They learned a lot of new things, and the games in between were a lot of fun.
Am besten gefallen hat mir... die fachliche Kompetenz, die Methodenvielfalt und die interessante Inhalte. Bis jetzt der beste Workshop den wir an der Schule hatten!
What I liked best was... the "smelling game," how ants find each other!
Primary School Level 1 and 2
Getting to know the most important aspects of ants’ way of life in a playful way.
Where do ants live? How does an ant colony work? Why do we need ants? What jobs are there in an ant colony? How do ants communicate? How do ants differ from each other?
Interactive program that engages (almost) all the senses!
Primary School Level 3 and 4
Getting to know the most important aspects of the natural history of ants.
Where do ants live? How does an ant colony work? Why do we need ants? What jobs are there in an ant colony? How do ants communicate? What features should be considered to distinguish ants from each other and identify different species? What strengths do ants have? What strengths do I have, and which ant is similar to me?
4 lesson units, € 600 excl. material & travel
Interactive program that engages (almost) all the senses!
Agenda and content may vary based on circumstances.
Primary School Level 3 and 4
Getting to know different groups of insects and arthropods and their ways of life
How can you recognize a grasshopper? What distinguishes a beetle from a true bug? What is a net-winged insect—and why does it look so similar to a dragonfly?
Arthropods are the most species-rich animal group in the world, accounting for over 80% of all known animal species. They inhabit nearly every habitat on Earth and display a fascinating diversity of forms and lifestyles. Insects, in particular, play a central role in our ecosystems.
In this workshop, we dive into this impressive diversity and learn to better recognize and differentiate insects and other arthropods.

Primary School Level 3 to 4
Getting to know scientific work and conducting your own experiment.
How do scientists work? What is a research question, and how do I answer one? How do I conduct an experiment? How can I present and display my collected data in a simple way?
4 lesson units, € 600 excl. material & travel
One to two hours are spent outdoors; the program is only possible during warmer months and in good weather!
Interactive program with an outdoor component.
